Man, as if Muddy Buddies weren’t good enough, now I have to go making them with white chocolate?! I know, you’re welcome. Unless you don’t like white chocolate, then I guess these won’t be too tempting for you. But with just about everything, I like the white chocolate version so much better! It’s a toss up if these are better than original Muddy Buddies, but they are pretty dang good.
I decided rather than just coat the cereal and Oreos in white chocolate, that I would keep it just like original muddy buddies, but with white chocolate. So that means the chocolate is mixed with peanut butter and butter. White chocolate and peanut butter are a great combination, so that works out. And I had to throw in Oreos, because why the heck not?! You are welcome to do more or less cups of Oreo chunks than I’ve suggested, just remember that they replace some of the cereal, so adjust accordingly.
Be careful not to overcook the chocolate mixture. I don’t know if my husband has ever melted white chocolate successfully. The white chocolate seems to seize easier than the regular semi-sweet. Again though, if the chocolate does seize, don’t throw it away! Just mix what’s in the bowl all together, add a little milk if it’s too thick, and you’ll have some yummy fudge!
I guess that’s all I have to say about these, they pretty much speak for themselves. Enjoy!
White Chocolate Oreo Muddy Buddies
10 or 11 Cups Chex Cereal *
3 Cups Oreo Pieces (whatever size you want them to be) *
1 Package White Chocolate Chips (2 cups)
1 Cup Peanut Butter
½ Cup Margarine or Butter
2 tsp Vanilla
3 Cups Powdered Sugar
*Gluten Free: use 13 or 14 cups Rice cereal and leave Oreos out
Put Chex Cereal and Oreos in a bowl and set aside. Microwave the white chocolate chips, peanut butter, and margarine/butter in a bowl on high for one minute. Pull out and stir. If it’s not completely melted, microwave for 30 seconds, then stir it again. Repeat until the chocolate mixture is smooth when stirred. Add vanilla to the mixture. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal and stir until all the cereal is coated with chocolate. It might take some time but keep stirring. Either put in a plastic bag with powdered sugar and shake until all the cereal and cookies are coated, or put powdered sugar in the bowl, put the lid on, and shake until all the cereal and cookies are coated.
